It looks good whether it's toted in your school backpack, pulled from your purse or riding with you on a family trip. Cobalt/Black marks the seventh color in the Nintendo DS Lite palette. It joins Polar White, Coral Pink, Onyx, Crimson/Black and the limited-edition Gold and Metallic Rose. Now there's a Nintendo DS color to complement any outfit.

System
With Nintendo DS Lite, dual screens and touch-screen technology allow you to interact with games like never before. Wireless communication allows you to experience real-time multiplayer gameplay, and the free Nintendo Wi-Fi Connection service allows you to compete against players from around the globe.

Dual Screens:
Two incredibly bright LCD screens offer one of the most groundbreaking gameplay advances ever developed. Each 3-inch screen can reproduce a true 3D view, with impressive 3D renderings that can surpass images displayed on the Nintendo 64.

Nintendo Wi-Fi Connection:
Ready to take on the world? Now, with Nintendo Wi-Fi Connection, you can connect wirelessly, chat and play with Nintendo DS owners across the globe. All you need to play is a Nintendo DS and a Wi-Fi-ready game. There are no subscription fees -- the service is free!

Touch Screen Technology:
The lower screen offers something never before provided by any dedicated game device: touch-screen capabilities. You no longer have to rely on just buttons to move your character or shift perspectives. Navigate menus or access inventory items simply by touching the screen with a stylus or fingertip. The possibilities are limited only by developers' imaginations. The touch screen features a tougher film cover for durability, and the included stylus is stored in the back of the unit.

Microphone Port:
A built-in microphone port means that with Nintendo DS, you only need to tell your games what to do. The Nintendo DS microphone gives you even more ways to interact with your favorite games.

Wireless Network:
With Nintendo DS Lite, you can connect with a local wireless network of up to 16 players. The wireless range can be an incredible 30 to 100 feet and for some games, multiplayer requires just one Nintendo DS game card.

Note: Nintendo DS Lite wireless communication, including PictoChat, is not private and is not monitored by Nintendo. We recommend that you never reveal any personal information or arrange to meet a stranger.

Rich Stereo Sound:
Nintendo DS Lite sound capabilities allow for greatly expanded use of voices and music, and a richer, more immersive game experience. Stereo speakers allow for virtual surround sound and a plug for headphones transmits stereo sound.

Backward Compatibility:
Nintendo DS Lite features a separate media port for Game Boy Advance cartridges, allowing you to play all your favorite Game Boy Advance games in single-player mode.

Very fun
5 out of 5 stars.
I find the Nintendo DS to be very fun and easy to use. I have the Brain Age and CrossworDS games. The CrossworDS game allows me to play crossword puzzles, word searches, and anagrams. For anyone who really enjoys these sorts of puzzles, the DS is very good purchase.

A very pleasant surprise

I've resisted getting any hand held game system for a long time. Brain Age got me interested in trying a DS. I love it. The Deep blue colour is really a nice rich colour. a very grown up aesthetic to see the black and blue colour combo.
My personal test of any simple electronics device or software is basic: without reading instructions, how much can I just figure out by trying it out. Well The DS won the test. I opened the case, flipped open the top on the unit , switched on and the first thing that happened was a welcoming setup screen that was very straightforward to use. Very user friendly from the word go. The screens are great, the size and layout of controls are pretty intuitive.

Had a ball with it from the word go. So I have to eat my words about hand helds as kids stuff because I was totally engrossed by the interactive experience: touch screen, voice recognition, electronic writing pad and sound sensitive too, with some games. I got Brain Age to start with and it uses the DS functions very well. Not a childish game or system, if you don't want it to be.

I'm a forty something man that has always had just a casual players love for gaming and realized what a great way to pass the time while commuting. Test my IQ and "exercise" my brain, do sudoku or maybe even dip into a bit of Mario for some fun. I look forward to more fun and interesting games & applications with it. A comfortable gaming system with great functionality and a broader range of age appropriate games, for many types, than you might expect.

incredible upgrade
5 out of 5 stars.
I originally had a regular fat DS and although it worked well, the weight and design just caused a lot of issues...especially when playing games that require you to use your left hand to hold the handheld, while the other to use the stylus...caused a lot of cramps and frusteration. I recently picked up a DS Lite and its a HUGE difference over the original version. It's light, easier to get a grip on and it seems a lot brighter...definitely an excellent upgrade from the original design.

Great choice for a portable console.
5 out of 5 stars.
The Nintendo DS is better than the PSP in many ways - it looks cooler, it's more compact, the battery lasts longer, there is a touch screen and it's actually fun. The only cons (that aren't even cons for most people) are it has no media or video playback like the PSP does. Nintendo has done a good job in making the DS Lite fun for all ages by including games that will appeal to everyone from 1 year old to 99 years old - Brain Age, Super Mario 64 DS, Super Mario Bros, Pokemon Diamond/Pearl and many more!

A great investment for yourself or a family member.

GREAT! A+++++

Great fun, endless entertainment considering the vast choice of games. Touch screen works great, battery lasts long and the screen is very bright, great in all conditions. The only way you should even consider a PSP in its place is if you have a need for mp3 and video capability but what with the the vast majority of consumers owning iPod's its hardly necessary to have your game console be capable of the exact same thing. Plus what's more fun than Mario Bros???
