| Decent Overview Of Clapton's Career | |
| | It has a rather dumb title and it doesn't offer anything new, but Complete Clapton is actually a pretty good compilation, particularly for those new to Eric Clapton. Most of his major hits are present, presented chronologically and remastered. Disc one is essentially Clapton's 1995 Cream of Clapton disc; other than switching Blues Power for Lay Down Sally, it's the same disc track for track, covering his career from 1968 to 1981. The second is basically an update to 1999's Clapton Chronicles, covering his music from 1983 to 2006. Luckily, it avoids too much duplication from that disc (which was pretty lackluster) by including tracks from his Money & Cigarettes, From the Cradle, Riding With The King, Me & Mr. Johnson, and Road to Escondido albums, which weren't represented on the 1999 disc. It's also nice to see I've Got a Rock n' Roll Heart put on a compilation for once, which surprisingly seems to get missed frequently in other sets. The collection is certainly not the final say on Clapton, and the purists probably won't need this, but it's not a bad summary of his career to date.
| | | I don't think I'll buy this set, as I already own the 6 LP boxed set "Crossroads" and any number of single albums. Does anyone out there know why such a talented artist as Eric Clapton keeps repeating the same material over and over again? I went to a concert in Montreal in 1988 and wrote the selections played on a cigarette package (a LONG time ago). In 2006 a friend went to a Clapton concert in Ottawa; I asked her to write which songs were played. 18 years later, Eric Clapton played exactly the same material. It can't be that he doesn't know any new chords! Seriously, most of these songs were originally released in the 1960's and '70's. Any opinions as to why this phenomenon???

| | WHAT WE HAVE HERE IS YET ANOTHER GREATEST HITS,BEST OF,CLAPTON RELEASE...COMPLETE IT IS NOT IN THAT IT DOES NOT OFFER UP ANYTHING FROM HIS YARDBIRD OR MAYALL DAYS.ERIC HAS NOT RELEASED ANYTHING OF NOTE FOR A FEW YEARS.REPTILE WAS VERY MEDIOCRE AND HIS DUETS WITH B.B KING AND J.J CALE WERE THE SAME.IF YOU WANT TO INVEST IN A CLAPTON CAREER OVERVIEW I SUGGEST YOU BUY THE "CROSSROADS" BOX SET.I AM A BIG CLAPTON FAN BUT WITH THIS RELEASE I'VE BEEN THERE-DONE IT!!!!
