| CORNER GAS RETURNS WITH A SLIGHTLY DISAPIOTING SEASON | |
|  | I am a huge fan of Corner Gas. I have all of the other DVD box sets and I try to watch it regulaly (I have to watch it on Saturdays now because it is on at the same time as Heroes). All of the other seasons were terrific and had many episodes that were classic. But season four wasn't quite as good as the others. I'm not saying it was bad, I still really enjoyed it. But the episodes in the season just didn't stand out as much and weren't quite as funny. But it still was very funny, most episodes had a least a few lines that were hilarious. The pachaging on the DVD is also different from the other seasons. The case is the size of the average DVD box unlike the others that were about one third bigger. It wasn't the best season, but it was still very good.
| | | Well, I have been a Corner Gas fan since the first season and I still think it's one of the best shows to ever grace Canadian Television. I don't usually have time to watch the show on Mondays so there are very few things I look forward to more then every fall watching and re-watching the DVD.
That being said who ever put this DVD together is really really bad at their job. Not only is the cover art extremely poorly put together (which can be said about any "VSC" product) IT DOESN'T MAKE ANY SENSE! Is this set missing the episode where Brent becomes 007? Where did that come from??? It has nothing to do with the show!
AND on top of all that the menus are PAINFUL! once you put the DVD in and get threw the legal mumbo jumbo this screen comes up that tells you to press enter to activate the DVD. Which, is supposed to be some sort of lame homage to the non-existent James Bond episode or something. Once you press enter you have to sit through a un-skipable intro to the real menu. Then when the menu finally loads its a equally painful to pick a episode, you see on the menu it doesn't have the title of the episodes it instead says "episode 004" so then once you click on the number that you think is the episode your looking for you have to sit through another 30 second into to the next menu that you can't skip just to see if you picked the right one! Then finally YOU ARE ABLE TO WATCH THE EPISODE!
I'm one of those people who turns the DVD on 30 minutes before I watch it, so I don't have to sit through any of those annoying intros that are un-skipable. For people who do that, it wont work for this.
| | | Each season of Corner Gas continues to amaze me with it's excellent writing and great acting. Also the amount of cameos are amazing. Only Corner Gas would have Stephen Harper debating prairie dogs and gophers. Season 4 was awesome. And with season 5 premiering on September 3, it's important to buy the fourth season box set.
