Editorial Reviews:
Disney's 1967 animated feature The Jungle Book seems even more entertaining now than it did upon first release, with a hall-of-fame vocal performance by Phil Harris as Baloo, the genial bear friend of feral child Mowgli. Loosely based on Rudyard Kipling's original, the film goes its own way as Disney animation will, but the strong characters and smart casting (George Sanders as the villainous tiger, Shere Khan) make it one of the studio's stronger feature-length cartoons. Songs include "The Bare Necessities" and "Trust in Me". --Tom Keogh

Disney's underrated Jungle classic
5 out of 5 stars.
This one of Disney's underratted films, and also the last that he himself supervised on (he died around that time). It is a favorite in my family and it always will.

The film is based on Rudyard Kipling's classic book, and I not one compare to with bonified Jungle Book fans (the original book), but I love this film and the animated film version from Russia; and the original stories; and also I love movies/stories that are setted in Asia (the film is set in India). I love the main-title theme, it sets off the mood of the jungle. I love a scene at the beginning when Bagheera plays stork; You know "deliver" baby Mowgli to the wolf family like the stork. I also love the scene with the monkey whacking Baloo (who thought the monkey was Mowgli) on the nose (that's was funny).

Overall this is a very entertaining film, and a song-filled celebration of friendship, fun and adventure set in a lush and colorful world; I am still SHOCKED by the negativity towards it.

Great satisfaction, return to my childhood.

Primely, and i don't know if it's the right word, i'm french so i beg you to forget me if i do too much mistake.
I bought this DVD used via Amazon.ca and was sent to me by Tracy Patterson and if i would buy something else from that ladie, i would not hesitate one minute.

The Jungle Book is one of my favorite Disney animation, i'm 48 and it remind me of my childhood.

Best Ever Disney Movie..... TRUST IN ME!
5 out of 5 stars.
While it does not possess any concrete plot of any kind, this is a perfect family movie/musical. It's the songs that make this the best Disney movie of all time, and the animation is top notch. Here are my three favourite scenes...

1. Trust in me (The Hypnotizing scene)
My favourite scene from the whole film when I was a kid, and now my daughter's favourite moment too. With some wonderful animation combined with the film's BEST song, as Kaa the giant python hypnotizes Mowgli in a tree top.

2 Tiger Fight
Filled with lots of simply stunning and often intense animation, this provides a suitable climax to the movie.

3. Baloo vs Monkeys
A really funny scene in which Baloo is completely humiliated by a pack of King Louie's henchman.

These scenes and a lot more make for a fantastic film. Now all we need is a two-disc special edition dvd.

One of the best Disney movies ever!
5 out of 5 stars.
This is a great movie for the entire family! Kids will love it and it will bring back fond memories for adults who enjoyed it as children. The characters are lovable and the songs are great too, especially Baloo singing "The Bear Necessities". This is a completely sweet, innocent film. Like most Disney cartoons(eg.Bambi), there are some parts that are a bit sad but there is absolutely no reason why children shouldn't see this movie. I hope many more enjoy it for years to come.

Contrasting review
1 out of 5 stars.
I know how many people gave five star reviews on here. Mine is not a five star review. I am giving you my straight opinion on this movie.

One, I don't think this movie is fit for family viewing. Adults will not find it interesting or entertaining, and it hardly serves any purpose in teaching moral lessons to children. Two, this cartoon almost borders on animated pedophilia. It just looks sick and wrong, really, with this older, scary bear taking this young innocent away and teaching him his "bear ways."

This is not charming entertainment. This is a pain. If you want a charming, older Disney movie you should check out their animated version of Robin Hood. The music in Robin Hood is far better as well. I have always disliked "The Jungle Book."
