Five-star show - But not a five-star DVD set
4 out of 5 stars.
Since I don't live where Corner Gas is broadcast, I wait eagerly for the DVD release each year, having pre-ordered it months in advance. Season Three of the show is certainly up to the quality level of the previous years. It maintains the wonderful low-key Brent Butt wordplay and off-hand throwaway timing that gives this program its unique identity. I have never seen another sit-com that is so consistently funny to my own sense of humor. Every. Single. Episode. However...

It is the lack of DVD features that disappoints. The only extra is a made for broadcast featurette "Beyond Dog River: Behind Corner Gas" which doesn't have much to do with the cast and is more about the effect the show has had on fans and the residents of Rouleau and Climax.

There is not one episode with commentary. No outtakes. No interviews. Nothing. At first I thought, "Oo-hoo-hoo the cast are big stars now. They're too busy traveling around accepting their awards and accolades to spend an afternoon doing a commentary track." But, on reflection, I suspect that months ago in some executive office in Toronto a mid-level marketing guy in a grey suit decided that, based on the ratings points at airing, the DVD set would sell itself without extras. He's likely correct. But I still want to say one thing to that guy: "Jackass."

Warning To Non-Canadian North Americans: There's a C$15 dollar off coupon that comes with the DVD set for a Dog River Hockey Jersey, but there's no way to place an order it if you're in the U.S.

Hilarious comedy, and Canadian yet too.
5 out of 5 stars.
When this show first premiered in 2004, I had no idea what it was. The day after the first episode, people were talking about it in my classes at school, even the teachers. Now, I am a very devoted fan of the show. I make sure I never miss an episode. This is one of the best shows to hit TV in the past decade. Its a well crafted show, about the adventures (or lack there of) of a group of people living in small town Saskatchewan. Being from small town Sask. myself, this show really hits home. For example, the "Slow Pitch" episode from season two is exactly how its done in Sask. I especially enjoyed the Christmas episode from season three. Winter, snow, harsh winds and all that are a huge part of Saskatchewan and prairie living, and to finally see an episode in winter is awesome. I loved it.

Something I can not believe though is how few of people have heard of the show. Every Canadian, and maybe a few Americans should watch this show. Its comedic beauty, and Canadian none the less. Watch the show!
