| Editorial Reviews: | | | | | Good enough to suggest long-term franchise potential, The Bourne Supremacy is a thriller fans will appreciate for its well-crafted suspense, and for its triumph of competence over logic (or lack thereof). Picking up where The Bourne Identity left off, the action begins when CIA assassin and partial amnesiac Jason Bourne (a role reprised with efficient intensity by Matt Damon) is framed for a murder in Berlin, setting off a chain reaction of pursuits involving CIA handlers (led by Joan Allen and the duplicitous Brian Cox, with Julia Stiles returning from the previous film) and a shadowy Russian oil magnate. The fast-paced action hurtles from India to Berlin, Moscow, and Italy, and as he did with the critically acclaimed Bloody Sunday, director Paul Greengrass puts you right in the thick of it with split-second editing (too much of it, actually) and a knack for well-sustained tension. It doesn't all make sense, and bears little resemblance to Robert Ludlum's novel, but with Damon proving to be an appealingly unconventional action hero, there's plenty to look forward to. --Jeff Shannon | |

| | "Shaky-Cam" simply ruined my enjoyment of this movie | |
| | Sorry to say this but I was almost nauseated by the consistent camera movement in this movie. I was totally distracted from an otherwise potentially fine movie by the heavy handed "fake" documentary camera work as so many shots needlessly bounce "away" from the subject. Even in a boardroom scene the camera pans and jumps around the room losing and regaining focus in a vain attempt to create movement and look like something exciting is happening. Once I started to get annoyed by the camera losing focus so often and tilting away from the subject this movie was ruined for me. I couldn't overcome the awareness of the cameraman trying to look spontaneous and rushed. Was an assistant especially hired to constantly push the camera operator away from the shots he needed and to jerk the lens out of focus?
If the "woops I don't know how to hold or focus a camera" style of shooting this film is not enough of a distraction, I find the editing is just as jarring, heavy handed and choppy. As soon as any image stabilizes for a second or two, the editor cuts to another shot forcing your eyeballs to bounce around trying to find something to focus on. I had to give up. I turned to ask my wife if the camera movement and editing was bothering her and she had her eyes closed. She said she was waiting for the jumpy scene to end but in Bourne Supremacy "every" scene is jumpy. For me, it was a waste of money to buy this movie on HD. Too much of the movie is intentionally blurry and I found the editing in this movie was so jumpy I had a moment when I thought my HD player had malfunctioned.
| | second in the Bourne series.not quite as good as the first, but still a fine movie | |
| | although i didn't like this movie as much as the first one,it's still a darn good film.Matt Damon returns as Jason Bourne, and is again outstanding in the role.Frank Potente also returns, and is good, once again.and again the supporting cast is also very good.the action sequence are just as spectacular int his one.the fight scenes are amazing.the only difference i noticed, was that the dramatic scenes didn't seem as compelling and i think they went on a bit too long at times.other than that, this is a great movie.it's a bit shorter than "Identity" at 108 minutes.anyway,my vote for The Bourne Supremacy is 4/5
| | Can't wait for the next Bond? Wait no more! | |
| | "The Bourne Supremecy" is one of those films that I love, and I think is an awesome picture in the most "popcorny" way possible. This film has all the action of a 007 flick with a (somewhat) realistic plotline. I believe that "The Bourne Supremecy" is one of the best of 2004. There are two unforgettable scenes, and both are very similar. I will not give away the film, but I am referring to the two times when Jason Bourne is on the phone with Pamela. Awesome. "Supremecy" is defineatly a sensational movie, and is at least worth a rent.
