Editorial Reviews:
Few bands are better suited than the Barenaked Ladies to take obnoxious old Christmas jingles to an entirely new level of obnoxiousness. The Canadian pop group does a smack-up job on this generous collection, where they tackle children's relics like "Rudolph the Red-Nosed Reindeer," curious seasonal fare such as Band-Aid's Ethiopian charity single "Do They Know It's Christmas," and a handful of tongue-in-cheek originals that share the bookish humor of the band's hits like "One Week" and "Brian Wilson." Even the inclusion of three Hannukah songs doesn't raise the bar for reverence. The disc also includes collaborations with Sarah McLachlan and Michael Buble. --Aidin Vaziri

Funky Kind of Christmas
4 out of 5 stars.
WE loved almost all of the songs. It was a nice change from the same old songs we hear every year.

Great songs, love Barenaked Ladies!
5 out of 5 stars.
We can listen to this CD anytime, and still be entertained by the kids or our dog who loves to sing to Christmas songs! Jingle Bells is classic, complete with the kids' version, heehee.

Not their best, but my wife loves it...
4 out of 5 stars.
Die-hard BNL fan? This may be just a little too over the edge for you. We bought it (right here in fact) on a bit of a whim and I haven't been able to wrestle the darn thing away from my wife since it arrived. Maybe it's the trademark tongue-in-cheek examintion of the holidays that the Ladies seem to have wrapped around the hectic commercialism of the season. Maybe it's the Michael Bublé cameos that give the "filler" songs that jazzy twist. Perhaps it has something to do with the synthesizer/backbeat destructions of short instrumental classics so much resemble the music we used to play on grandma's electric organ on Boxing Day. Who knows... It's fun. Whatever. Maybe not as wholey original or absolutely new as it could have been, but BNL have recorded themselves more than a couple tracks worthy of adding to your collection.

My Kind of Christmas Album!
5 out of 5 stars.
Working in retail, where I hear 8 hours of Christmas music a day for over a month, this album is sooooo refreshing. I don't want to listen to carols at home, but I will always pop in the Oscar Peterson Christmas album whenever I'm feeling festive, or Vince Guaraldi. And now I can add this little gem to my CD changer as well. Clever, fun, and extremely musical. Thanks guys.

A worthy addition to a holiday music collection
4 out of 5 stars.
I think it is a great disk. As a longtime BNL fan, I found that it is not as clever as their albums usually are (you get a feeling they cranked it out in a hurry), but it is still a lot of fun.
