Editorial Reviews:
Though recorded in the 1970s, this classic Raffi album is still one of the children's troubadour's bestsellers. The gentle, joyful style; simple musical arrangements; and easy-to-follow up-front vocals have made Singable Songs for the Very Young a favorite among tiny tots, parents, and preschool teachers. By combining traditional songs like "The More We Get Together," "Down by the Bay," and "Going to the Zoo" with Raffi originals like "I Wonder If I'm Growing," "Peanut Butter Sandwich," and a jazzy near-cover, "Old MacDonald Had a Band," the album has a familiar feel while giving young children the opportunity to learn new songs and rhythms. Other notable titles include the interactive "Brush Your Teeth," "Five Little Pumpkins," and the tongue-twisting "Willoughby Wallaby Woo." --Deborah Moore

Unforgettable songs from my childhood
5 out of 5 stars.
Singable Songs for the Very Young was originally released in 1976. I was born two years after that, and this album (cassette tape actually) was a staple in my family. I can remember my younger sisters and I belting out "Must be Santa" or "Mr Sun." in the back of the car on long trips.

We also had the record for "Corner Grocery Store" and I can clearly remember dancing around the living room and singing along with my sisters to the silly songs on that album.

Wanting to share these songs with my own children, I got Singable Songs for my two year old son. As it turns out, he loves the songs too and we have a lot of fun together singing and dancing. His favourite song is "Bumping Up and Down in my Little Red Wagon."

I've tried out a lot of different children's music from the library, and the great majority of it sounds terrible. Raffi on the other hand has a warm, gentle voice and his simple, joyful tunes appeal to both children and adults alike.

We'll be going on a very long car trip next month and you'd better believe we'll be bringing Raffi along!

Love it

I bought this on a recommendation from a friend. My 19 month old son loves this CD, also the Baby Beluga CD. It's great for long trips! We listen to it at home & my son is always requesting one of the songs. Raffi songs are fun & teach something. You may even find yourself singing the songs & actually enjoying it.

My daughter LOVES this! It is her FAVORITE cd!

She always gets so excited when I put it on! It is fun and upbeat! Great CD for kids!

Hands Down, a favorite in our home.

This is our daughter's favorite album from birth. 16 months later, she is still enthralled with every single song, especially the song about brushing your teeth. From start to end, every song gives it's own unique character to such a colorful album. I recommend this album to all, and I think it would make a wonderful Shower gift!

A classic

I grew up listening to Raffi, so my mother naturally bought this CD for my 7 month old son, when he was 4 months old. The CD is a lot of fun to sing to, and when he's fussy all I need to do is sing the first line of "The More We Get Together", "Five Little Frogs", or "Aikendrum" and he smiles right away and cheers up. I'd recommend it for parents who are looking for fun and simple songs to sing to their children.
