Editorial Reviews:
One of the defining albums of thrash metal, Master of Puppets is arguably Metallica's best album (as well as their last with bassist Cliff Burton). Focusing on the concept of power and abuses thereof, this is a collection of complex, intelligent music, played at about a hundred miles an hour. Not that these are short songs; this eight-song album clocks in at over an hour, which makes it all the more impressive that not one moment on this recording is boring. In tackling various approaches to their subject, Metallica is insightful lyrically as well as musically: "Welcome Home (Sanitarium)" is from the point of view of an institutionalized inmate and "Disposable Heroes" is the perspective of a soldier. If all you've heard of Metallica is what's been on the radio recently, check this one out. You're in for a surprise. --Genevieve Williams

Great!
5 out of 5 stars.
I have to say that every person who say they like Metallica should get these 5 albums together 1-Kill em all 2-Master of puppets 3-Ride the ligthing 4- And justice for all 5-the black album. One cannot go without the other! Must have these classics if you want to stick with the ABC's of this band.

"Master,Master,Laughing At My Cries!"
5 out of 5 stars.
"Master Of Puppets" can only be described as a masterpiece of trash metal,it has even been said that it was the greatest metal album ever,While everyone has different opinions, including Metallica fans and i think that its a great album and their most popular album definatly, but certainly not Metallica's best in my opinion(i would say its "Ride The Lightning").This album is highly respected by metal listeners everywhere and with reason,it has many great tracks and its metal from beggening to end.The title track alone is worth buying this album for,its a classic of metal and an epic song at over 8 minutes."Master Of Puppets" is the album that really putted Metallica on the map in first place and the tour with Ozzy Osbourne for that album was great, with the fans boing Ozzy and asking for Metallica.Yes this album is rich in moments, songs and history.Speaking of history, this is sadly the last to feature the great Cliff Burton on Bass,he died at such a young age in a tragic road accident. This has got to be one of the finest metal albums ever made, nothing but great songs here,ok maybe some exceptions but its still a masterpiece from the mother of Trash-Metal.The 8 minutes title track is one of the best metal songs ever, now i have probabaly listened to this song more than i should have but it remains a classic."Battery" is great intro to the album with great drums for Lars."Orion" is a killer instrummental."Lepper Messiah" is brutal."Damage Inc" has a terrific intro."Sanitarium" is another classic on this one and i have already said enough for the songs i think, they're pretty much all good making this album fully deserving its 5 star rating. And the production is great too, unlike their next album "...And Justice For All".Evryone plays great here,Lars is great at drums,Kirk does some nice solos and they're all good on this one! This was back in 1986,when Metallica were innovators and had created trash metal with their first album and were refining it with this particular album amongst others. They receved nearly no airplay if any but that was wasn't part of theiir plans they just wanted to rock, and rock they did. This was before Metallica became sold outs years latter, this was when they truly rocked and gave everything they had. This over 20 years ago when still had the ideas, vison and creativity to make a masterpiece such as this.It reached Platinum and achieved that without a video and radio air time,it seems the metalheads all reunited to buy this one. There ain't much more to be said except that its a must have and that i highly recommend it!

Best Metallica Album. Ever. (late review)
5 out of 5 stars.
Metallica has been going in a downward slope ever since Metallica (self-titled) until St. Anger was the nail on the coffin. However, don't let that change your thoughts to get this album, even though it may seem a bit intimidating.

8 songs, all which are over 5 minutes? This is the length of a normal cd once you listen through, it will be your money's worth, not to mention if you are getting tired of bands that don't provide guitar solos, here is your choice cd.

The topics in Master Of Puppets are quite wide assorted, some are about politics, another is control by a mightier being, the perils of war, etc. all of the songs are interesting, unless you don't like Orion, which is an insturmental.

Now, just because there isn't a parental advisory sticker on it doesn't mean that it is bad, that it is the brain of a moron. At least try to listen to this with an open mind and if you can't you can't handle this genre of music.

5/5

ABSOLUTELY THE BEST HEAVY METAL ALBUM OF ALL-TIME
5 out of 5 stars.
Metallica is the best heavy metal band of all-time. Arguments can be made for both Led Zepplin and Black Sabbath as the best metal of all-time- but no one has had more impact or influenced more bands than Metallica. Master of Puppets is one wild ride from start to finish. Master of Puppets is heavy metal at its absolute best. Master of Puppets, Damage Inc and Leper Messiah are the best songs on this album.

2006 is the twenty-year anniversary of this classic album and you know something, it's a great album.

THIS IS A MUST-HAVE FOR EVERY HEAVY METAL FAN. THIS IS A GREAT ALBUM!!

Great!
4 out of 5 stars.
This album in my opinion is the best Metallica album out there, also the finest piece of thrash metal out there, though in my opinion some songs are bit weak at times

Battery- great spanish guitar intro, but after the electric part comes crashing, they sorta screw up the great melody they had at the begining.still good song. 7/10

Master of puppets- probably the strongest song in the album along with Leper messiah, disposable heroes and welcome home(sanitarium) great heavy intro and turns into a furious rocker in no time, also great solo in the middle. 10/10

The thing that should not be- alright song, not as strong as the others though, but cool instrumentation nonetheless. 6/10

Welcome home(sanitarium)- great song with a nice clean guitar intro and then great guitar work. 10/10

Disposable heroes- wow! this song takes great skill, the guitars are lighting fast and great strong vocals and lyrics. 10/10

Leper messiah- man, this song has agressive composition and is very heavy yet also very melodic, great lyrics and great riffs.

Oion(instrumental)- this, in my opinion is the best Meetallica instrumental, great cool intro and also has great guitar work, not a hard rocker but is very melodic. its great. also this song was played at Cliff Burton's funeral after he died during the Metallica's tour, so it has some special significance to Metallica fans and the band itself. 10/10

Damage,INC- I dont like this song much, still it has cool guitar riffs and great bass work. 7/10

Great Metallica album, also the last one to feature bassist Cliff Burton, surely a great loss to the metal world and Metallica itself. Heavy metal bands I recomend for you people who like metallica are Iron Maiden, Guns n' roses, Ozzy osbourne, Quiet riot and Megadeth( Dave Mustaine's band after he was kicked out of Metallica
